PINEBIND is a 100% ORGANIC EMULSION produced from naturally occurring resin from the PONDEROSA PINE which has gained wide spread use for fugitive dust control. 

PINEBIND is a specially formulated, very effective dust control solution for treatment of road aggregate, coal stockpiles, fly and bottom ash piles, open field areas and other environments where air borne dust is undesirable. Due to PINEBIND  unusual binding qualities, it is also widely used for road base stabilization and cold pothole patching. Soil stabilization occurs from tree resin that is not water-soluble. It will leave cumulative residue from season to season. In addition to suppressing the irritating effects of air borne dust itself, PINEBIND  is effective in reducing soil erosion and protecting vegetation from blowing sand.

PINEBIND is non-water soluble after drying. It leaves a firm resilient seal over the entire area, which prevents leaching and erosion.

ROAD SURFACE DUST SUPPRESSANT:

 when topically applied to gravel roads PINEBIND will penetrate and extend down into the foundation and bond dust to stone. This will build a durable and water proof surface that will be pliable yet hard.

 PINEBIND dust palliative not only eradicates the dust totally but also stabilizes the road base and sheds water. In wet weather your road base stays dry so less potholing and wash boarding occur. PINEBIND can be applied as a topical treatment or for longer lasting durability it can be graded into the roadbed.

PINEBIND contains no asphalt or solvent, as can be found in other road dust suppressants. The binding agents in PINEBIND are non-volatile, offering a lasting effect unlike results obtained on roads treated with water alone. Concerns over the corrosive effects of roads salts to vehicle underbodies are eliminated with the use of PINEBIND, as it is a non-corrosive material. Because the product contains water it is non-flammable and safe during use.

PINEBIND is classified as “non-hazardous,” “non-toxic” and “non-carcinogenic” according to federal guidelines. It is also considered to be non-toxic to aquatic life.

APPLICATION: 

 PINEBIND excels as a topical treatment for fugitive dust control on any unpaved roadway. For seasonal dust control, PINEBIND is applied at a rate of .50 gallons per square yard. When applying PINEBIND it does not require a water truck to keep the roadway wet during application, as is the case in some applications of dust abatement products, thus PINEBIND takes less men and equipment for application. By varying the total volume of product per area, you can readily control the thickness and depth of penetration into the soil. The versatility of this product allows the applicator to design the application to provide highest efficiency depending on prevailing dust conditions, anticipated traffic and type of soil, as well as obtaining the greatest possible economy. Some soil types may be best treated with a one time heavy application of product, where as others may require several light applications. As a general rule, the rate of penetration of PINEBIND  is rapid in sandy soil, moderately fast in silty soil and slow in clay containing soil.

We recommend two applications within one week of each other for maximum durability.

The overall service life depends upon several key factors:

 Base Profile: Excess large aggregate upon surface will degrade surface seal quickly.

 Penetration: Sufficient penetration required, binding and locking tight the surface material.

Traffic Volume and pattern of wear

 NATURAL PAVEMENT STABILIZATION:

After the primary lift or “Fluff” of the road base to the target depth, utilizing PINEBIND at a 2:1 dilution ratio, .5 gallons/square yard of PINEBIND is placed by the application truck, followed by several rolling/mixing passes by road grader equipment. Multiple application’s of .5 gallons/yd2 of PINEBIND are then placed, followed by several more blending leveling passes with the road grade. Special attention should be given in this second step of base preparation to prevent pulling into the grading any marginal untreated material from the edges, and avoid excessive wetting of the mixture leading to sticking and pick-up by equipment during the rolling phase of the operation. When the blending and grading process is completed, a standard road construction drum type rubber tire or vibrator style roller should be utilized to facilitate compaction of base aggregate mixture. This procedure may require several passes in order to assure a strong, tight compacted base and smoothing of the surface to the desired effect. After rolling the product, a final seal coat of PINEBIND is applied at a rate of .25 gallons/square yard over the smooth, restored surface area. This product application can be placed immediately following the rolling and compaction work, or within several days after completion of the project.

 DRYING AND CURING TIME:

 When utilizing a single or split applied treatment program, adequate dry time should be allowed for PINEBIND  to thoroughly saturate and penetrate the surface. Water evaporation typically occurs in a short period of time, obviously being directly affected by prevailing temperature and general weather conditions. Once adequately absorbed and set, the remaining resin leaves a firm resilient, tough seal over the road or lot surface.

 PINEBIND'S principal use is to maintain unpaved roads by controlling dust, stabilizing and sealing road surfaces. With proper use the surface becomes dust free, water proof and suitable for foot or vehicle traffic. Properly maintained surface will last indefinitely. This will build a durable and water proof surface that will be pliable yet hard.

PINEBIND surfaces can be vacuumed, swept or flushed, the same as a paved surface when periodically maintained.
